Student Welfare Team
The WELFARE TEAM provides an extensive support network to assist all students with their personal, social, emotional and learning needs. We aim to provide a positive, safe and caring learning environment which recognises each student and encourages them to reach their potential.
|Terrence Yardley – Terrence has been at Christian Community School since 2007 and is currently the Head of our Junior School Campus. Before he was a teacher Terrence worked as a youth pastor at a local church and in student support services at Orara High and Tyalla Primary. When he decided on a career change, he was torn between becoming a policeman or a teacher, teaching won. Terrence completed a Bachelor of General Studies and a Bachelor of Teaching. Terrence is married to Carlee and they have four energetic children.|
|Debbie Searle – Deb had been a Training Manager for many years before taking on the management of a Long Day Care Facility. From 1999-2007 she was a Youth Justice Conference Convenor and has been teaching since 2003. Deb has been at our school for 12 years and is the Head of Middle School. Deb has a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Counselling and Mediation; Human Resource Development and Human Relations. She also has a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training.|
|Paul Edwards – This is Paul’s tenth year at CCS. He was previously a Clinical Nurse Consultant in child and adolescent mental health with both local and state-wide responsibilities. Paul heads up our Student Behaviour Support Services / Student Welfare (Years K to 12) and previously co-ordinated the schools Christian ministry and mission trip to Bali. Paul has been married to Nicki for 22 years and they have five children. He has a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, a Diploma of Christian Ministry, a Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Nursing (mental health) and Doctor of Philosophy.|
|Dave Sochon – Dave is our Head of PDHPE and Senior School Behaviour Management Co-ordinator. Dave joined us in 2008 after a number of years in Outdoor Education, working for schools such as St Andrews Cathedral School and The Illawarra Grammar School. He has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Education and History, a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education and a range of short course qualifications in education and youth welfare. Dave is married to Laura and they have three children.|
|Matthew Pratley – Matt is a Co-ordinator 2 in our Middle School and has been teaching with us since 2002. He was originally trained as a primary school teacher at Southern Cross University. Matt has taught in a variety of schools in Australia and the UK. He is currently teaching a year 8 Home Room class, Indonesian from years 6-8, over sighting Middle School Literacy Programs and is in charge of Middle School Boy’s discipline. Matt has a Bachelor of Teaching; Primary and a Diploma of Applied Linguistics. He is married to Penny, a former secondary Art teacher, turned artist. Together they have two wonderful children.|
|Maureen Hamilton –Maureen is an experienced teacher and counsellor who has worked across all age groups, from babies to adults, and also across a range of cultures. She started work as a teacher at the junior campus of our school in 1987 and is currently employed part-time as a girl’s counsellor and additionally offers teacher support for senior students who have English as an additional language. Maureen is married to Dave, has three adult children, is a grandparent, and lives at beautiful Emerald Beach. Maureen has a Diploma of Teaching, Diploma of TESOL, Diploma of Counselling and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.|
