Student Welfare Team

The WELFARE TEAM provides an extensive support network to assist all students with their personal, social, emotional and learning needs. We aim to provide a positive, safe and caring learning environment which recognises each student and encourages them to reach their potential.

Terrence Yardley – Terrence has been at Christian Community School since 2007 and is currently the Head of our Junior School Campus. Before he was a teacher Terrence worked as a youth pastor at a local church and in student support services at Orara High and Tyalla Primary. When he decided on a career change, he was torn between becoming a policeman or a teacher, teaching won. Terrence completed a Bachelor of General Studies and a Bachelor of Teaching. Terrence is married to Carlee and they have four energetic children.

Paul Edwards – This is Paul’s fourteenth year at CCS. For the ten years prior to that he worked for NSW Health as Clinical Nurse Consultant in child and adolescent mental health. Paul is Head of our Student Support Services (Years K to 12). He has been married to Nicki for 26 years and they have four children. Paul has a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, a Diploma of Christian Ministry, a Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Nursing (mental health) and Doctor of Philosophy.

Dave Sochon – Dave is our Director of Christian Ministry. He is also Head of PDHPE and the Senior School Behaviour Management Co-ordinator. Dave joined us in 2008 after a number of years in Outdoor Education, working for schools such as St Andrews Cathedral School and The Illawarra Grammar School. He has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Education and History, a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education and a range of short course qualifications in education and youth welfare. Dave is married to Laura and they have three children.
Matthew Pratley – Matt is our Head of Middle School and has been teaching with us since 2002. He was originally trained as a primary school teacher at Southern Cross University. Matt has taught in a variety of schools in Australia and the UK. Matt has a Bachelor of Teaching; Primary and a Diploma of Applied Linguistics. He is married to Penny, a former secondary Art teacher, turned artist. Together they have two wonderful children.
